The BHS
PTO presents these party guidelines as an aid in promoting
safe and happy social experiences for our teens.
Attending parties and developing social skills is an
important part of the teen years, but all too often we hear of parties
at which alcohol or drug use was prominent. Apart from legal and
school disciplinary consequences that will follow if a student is found to
have engaged in alcohol or drug use, such use can lead directly to unsafe
situations and activities and can further set the pattern for unhealthy
practices and habits. It is the responsibility of every parent, first, to
ensure that any parties hosted in the family home will be an adequately
supervised alcohol- and drug-free event and, second, to work to see that
his/her students will not attend unsafe parties. PTO hopes that these guidelines will ensure positive
experiences for both teens and parents.
